I AM 10 MONTHS OUT AND ABOUT 40LBS. FROM GOAL.(ITS DRIVING ME NUTS) MY DOC AND NUTRITIONIST SAY I SHOULD BE GETTIN IN 1000-1200 CALS. AND A MINIMUM OF 60GRMS PROTEIN DAILY... LOW FAT ALTHOUGH THEY WON'T SAY WHAT NUMBER CONSTITUTES LOW FAT AND THEY DON'T HAVE US COUNT CARBS..I USE FITDAY.COM AND AM USUALLY AT 8-1000 CALS. LESS THAN 40 CARBS. ABOUT 75-100 GRMS OF PROTEIN AND LESS THAN 45GRMS OF FAT PER DAY... JUST WONDERING WHAT YOUR DOC RECOMMENDED AT 10 MONTHS OUT. THANKS    — tracy W. (posted on June 20, 2004)

I am also at 10 months post op. My WLS surgeon told me to keep losing weight I had to consume more calories and protein, seems funny, but it has been working. I was at about 800 cal and 60 protein and went on a 3 week plautue at 9 1/2 months post op, I was told to increase my calories to 1000 to 1100 daily and increase my protein to 80/90 grams daily. The fat should stay below 30 grams and the carbs under 70 grams daily. I use fitday.com and it helps me so much, but I am having a hard time getting all of those calories and protein in daily, so I have had to add a protein shake or protein bar into my day. Since I increased the daily intake I have lost 5 lbs this last two weeks, finally off that plautue. I also may suggest that you increase your excercise, or change the routine and add a new type of excercise to your routine. I swim laps in the swimming pool, do water arobics, I walk up to two miles, and one day a week I ride my bicycle and one day I go to the gym and do the rolling machine, that way I am not just doing the same thing, and I give all of my body a workout.

I take in 1000-1200 calories a day and about 80-100 grams of protein. I don't count fat or carbs, I keep them low but my surgeon said not to worry about them as long as the carbs are from fruits and dairy not white bread and pasta. I am still losing 2-3 lbs a week. I walk alot and work out with weights 3-5 days a week. Sometimes it is hard to get that many calories or protein in but I find I lose more weight when I do than when I fall to 800 calories a day.
