Question:
Does anybody feel a fullness all of the time? I don't know if I should eat.
I am 10 days postop and I am not able to get pass the clear liquid stage. I have a full feeling all of the time. I have been back to the hospital once already. I am afraid to eat anything not liquid. Also, my stomach is big. I thought it would go down. And I don't think I have lost a pound. After going to the ER, I started back on a clear liquid diet and I don't know what to do. Can you give us some more info? What did you go to the ER for? What did
they say? Are you experiencing nausea or sickness? Have you tried ANY
soft foods? My dear friend had an issue with being afraid something was
going to 'get stuck' if she ate any real foods, and she had a tough time
getting going on regular foods. It's not healthy to stay on clear liquids
for a long time, just because you're afraid of solids. (not sure if you
are, but I'm reading into your post) If it's fear, then you need to speak
to your surgeon about it. Also- regarding your stomach- why would you
expect it to 'go down' after only 10 days? Please be kinder to yourself.
That's just not a realistic thought. It will get smaller, but not after
such a short period of time. At 10 days post op you may or may not have
lost weight. Everyone's different. However, it WILL come off if you stick
to your surgeon's instructions. It WON'T come off if you don't eat though.
You have to eat, even though you don't feel hungry. Measure and time your
food so that you don't under or over eat. Your pouch is just healing and
you probably have little to no sensation in it, so you have to monitor what
you eat carefully for volume.
