Question:
I am 11 months out and the last few weeks I'm hungry all the time.
I have gained about 3 pounds which I know is not alot but I'm afraid it will continue to go up. I thought I would still be losing since I am not yet at a year. Any suggestions on a diet at 11 months out? — Deborah M. (posted on February 18, 2004)

I would think 3 pounds could just be a fluctuation, not necessarily a real
gain. With 3 lbs, you could have eated something with a lot of sodium and
it caused you to retain some fluid, or maybe it's PMS. Maybe you added some
muscle mass (as muscle weighs more than fat) I am not saying don't keep an
eye on it, and you should keep on your surgeons plan. But I wouldn't get
to worried about it just yet. I know for me, I am one of those people who
can bump up a pound from PMS, I had this happen in month 2! and I am still
losing, it was only temporary.

Deborah, it is very simple to stay on the losing track. You have to up the
regular heart pumping exercise to burn those calories, cut out or way down
on the sugar and bad carbs and eat good healthy protein meals. You should
be eating more at 11 months, but it is what you eat rather than the fact
that you are eating that affects your weight. You are very smart to jump
on this while it is just 3 pounds and not 20 or more. The good thing is
that at 11 months your pouch is functioning and you are still within your
window of opportunity. I would suggest you eat more often, like 5-6 mini
meals a day (keeps you from getting too hungry), concentrate on mostly
protein and good carbs, exercise at least 3 times a week (heart pumping
types), get the junk or any food you cannot limit/resist out of the
house(brownies are my downfall!), up the water intake and eliminate all
other caloried drinks and that should do it.
