Question:
Has anyone tried the Edge Advant protein bars?
I am 3 months post op (open RNY) and I found the Edge Advant bars at Wal-Mart. They have 26 grams of protein and the cookies and cream are delicious. Plus only 4 impact carbs. My question is are they a good source of protein compared to the shakes. I have tried various shakes and have not found one I liked. I have lost 63 pounds to date and I just want good sources of protein. Thanks for your answers!! — cindylou56 (posted on October 23, 2003)

Hi, Cynthia! First, congratulations on your weight loss! That's terrific!
Second, I also like the Advant Edge bars. I hate doing protein shakes,
but I like bars ok. I like the chocolate chip cookie dough ones!

I am 4 months post-op and I don't like the Advant Edge bars (too heavy
right now). I have found a shake that I love... GNC's Protein 95. It's
soy based and also has some *gasp* fructose or some -ose in it that makes
it a little sweeter than an Atkins shake. Plus there's no
"tinny" aftertaste. I mix it in a blender with a banana and ice
or frozen strawberries and it truly tastes like a real milkshake! It has
25 gms per scoop of powder. I have one twice a day (one in the morning
while driving to work and the other after dinner as my dessert). GNC also
has a money-back guarantee. They're good people!
