Question:
What documentation is needed for insurance to pay ?

I know that some insurances pay for "batwing" arm reconstruction, but what all is needed to ensure insurance coverage? Thanks.    — Amy P. (posted on August 27, 2003)

Every insurance company will have different requirements. I would assume however that it would have to be medically necessary and not simply cosmetic. You will need to contact your insurance company and see what they require.

I think batwings is a really hard sell to get insurance to cover. Do a search in the library and see if anyone talked about insurance paying for it and then contact that person and ask how he or she did it. Good Luck! I don't think I will have mine done but I know I won't even waste my time asking BC/BS to pay as there is really no way to say it isn't cosmetic.
