Question:
Has anyone had their gallbladder removed

Has anyone had their gallbladder removed at the same time as the adjustable lap band in order for insurance to pay, and just had to pay the difference out of pocket?    — kstrmom (posted on August 4, 2003)

I don't know if this will be much help, but I had an open RNY with gallbladder removal at the same time, and my insurance covered all of it. It may depend on your insurance, and it may also depend on the reason for the gallbladder removal. Mine had to be removed because of gallstones but some docs remove it as a preventative measure. Your insurance may cover gallbladder removal at the same time as your WLS if it is medically necessary.
