Question:
Has anyone else tried eating Edemame, or Soy Beans?
I just tried them and found them to be very good. They have a nutty flavor and have 7 grams of protein in 3 ounces. Good snack! Just wondering if anyone else ate them? Thanks! — michelle T. (posted on June 21, 2003)

I've always liked them---steamed in salted water. As a matter of fact, I
grew them in my garden last summer and after our support group meeting last
Thurssday, 5 of us went out to eat and had them on our dinner table. I
never realized they had that much protein What a bonus!!!

Our family (even the kids 5,6,8) started eatin edemame about two years ago
and I still eat it post op. I did try soy 'nuts' post-op too, but had a
bad experience with them...it was like they continued to swell in my
stomcach until I ended up finally throwing up. I also eat soy burgers,
chicken and ribs...with the Gardenburger ribs being my favorite.

Trader Joe's sells frozen edamame which are quite good, and also
"Soycutash." I've probably spelled that wrong, but it's like
succotash with edamame instead of lima beans. I know the corn is high in
carbs, but it's a nice occasional side dish.
I also like the soynuts as a snack when you have that urge for something
salty/crunchy, but they do tend to give me gas.

I could eat boiled and salted soybeans every day. Thankfully we have a
great Co-op in town that sells them, and when I travel I can hunt them down
at a Trader Joe's.
I first had them as an appetizer at a sushi bar, and fell in love with
them.
It there anything those beans can't do?
