LOL, i saw that and laughed, but I knew what you meant! Yes, some people
eat only 12 carbs a day, some eat 20, some eat 100 a day. Many of us have
all been told different things by different doctors and nutritionists, its
hard to know what's exactly "right." Personally, I try to stay
under 100 carbs a day. I eat less than 20 per meal. Probably seems alot to
some people, but I used to probably eat 500 carbs a day pre-op. I just make
sure to stick to the "protein first" rule, and then eat a few
bites of carbs, and I'm ok. Others are very strict with the carbs and it
works for them. But carbs are in everything! So it can be hard. I'm doing
fine and don't feel deprived and am at my goal weight in less than 11
months. SO it's really up to you and what your body can handle. Goodluck to
you!

I was eating a protein bar that had 22 carbs in it and was stunned. I
asked my surgeon and he laughed and said it was fine - in fact, only 2 of
the carbs were "impact" carbs. I get a lot of carbs every day
but few of them come from the white, starchy foods. I eat fresh fruit,
vegetables, a few crackers but I avoid bread, rice, and pasta and severly
limit potatoes.
By the way, I lost 160 pounds in less than a year, so it must have worked.
I am now 16 1/2 months post-op, 2 months post-op from my tummy tuck and
have lost a total of 181 pounds. Just make sure you get your protein - the
more the better. I drink 64 ounces of Crystal Light or Sugar Free Country
Time every day.

The Diet Snapple I like has 2 carbs per serving and 2 servings per bottle.
I try to limit myself to two bottles a day for a total of 8 carbs. I get
very few carbs from eating as I pick proteins very carefully. My surgeon's
plan allows for 10 grms carbs per meal and doesn't worry about the carbs
from what we drink as long as it's water, Crystal Light, Diet Snapple,
sugar free popsicles - basically very low carb things. I do not get
anywhere near the 30 grams of carbs my plan allows a day, but in time I'm
sure it will progress but I am planning on trying to do it slowly.
