I never did the pureed thing. That sounded gross to me. My husband would
make me real beef broth or lobster bisque. If you are not good in the
Kitchen, you can buy beef or lobster base at the grocery store and make it
easily. They were hearty soups and I liked the meaty taste. Very satisfying
and filled me up with just a few spoonfulls. I would usually do slimfast in
the morning to help w/protien& vitamin intake, and sugar free pudding
for dessert at night. When I got the ok for chicken I would go to the Wing
Ranch next to my office and eat 1-2 chicken wings with blue cheese
dressing. Yummo! Cheese is also full of protien and easy on the tummy.
Take it slow and best wishes!

Hi Gary, At three wks, I hardly ate anything. Sipping on soups, tomato was
great. soft things like eggs, jello, yoguart, everyones taste is different.
If you eat something to soon, you will proubly get belly aches. Boy did I
ever. lol those rolling pains. also keep something on hand for
constipation. Watermellon was a must. But thats later. I loved it because
at the time I wasn't getting enough water in.

Gary, What does your surgeon say you can eat. I started soft foods at 12
days post-op and by three weeks, was eating grilled chicken, baked fish,
Wendy's chili, refried beans, eggs, sausage, fried catfish, turkey and
dressing (Christmas dinner), etc. I never did the pureed thing and found
grilled pork chops my best friend. But don't do anything your doctor
doesn't approve of. I did egg salad, tuna salad, salmon croquettes too.

I ate a LOT of canned chicken mixed with mayo, on crackers. I also ate
about a million sugar free popsicles. Let's see... what else. Taco Bell
beans, cream cheese dips on crackers, soft gouda cheese, ANY kind of cheese
I could spread on crackers, peanut butter on crackers, smoked salmon (but
make sure it's MOIST), cream soups, and things of that nature. If it could
be spread on a cracker, I probably ate it. Some people avoid crackers, but
I found them necessary for crunchiness. Good luck!! It WILL get easier!!!

Gary,
I had a hard time at this stage because I was truly hungry. I would have
tuna on crackers, egg salad on toast, Devilled Ham, egg drop soup, you
really want to find things high in protien. There are these great organic
soups- totally pureed. They come in the "health food " section of
your grocery store, they are called "imagine" soups. They are
great. Also, cheese quesidillas are great, add some refried beans and the
protien goes way up. Using low fat ingredients, and adding bits of chicken
are great too! Things get easier. Just don't hesitate to ask for help, we
have been there!

I have lived on Wendy's chili. A large container makes 5 meals for me. I
also have been eating shrimp (with sauce). At 3 weeks I also had a peice
of toast (crust removed) and then moved on to 1/2 of an english muffin.
Fat free pudding is good, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, au gratin
potatoes, etc. I'm at 5 weeks and just had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and
1/2 of a roll this weekend (it was heaven). I also just starting eating
Cheerios again. Let them soak in milk. Good luck and take it a little at a
time. OPen RYN 2/13/03 down 41 pounds
