Question:
Amount of food at 1 year out
I will be one year out on 2/22 and have lost 138 lbs. I am very happy about this and feel great. My question is - i have never really measured my food since about 2 months out. Have went by how my stomach feels. I would like to know what you other 1 year postops can eat at a time. Like today, I went to Wendy's (i don't do this all the time) and could only eat 4 chicken nuggets and 5-6 fries. Is this about the normal amount I should be eating? I just was curious if my stomach is where it should be or not. Cant do the cottage cheese test because i cant stand the stuff so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! — Tammy M. I think the amount sounds fine for a year out. I have what I ate at 4, 9,
and 18 months on my profile if you'd like to check it out. BTW, I did the
cottage cheese test using stiff oatmeal. I like cottage cheese but really!
I think that anything with that consistency would work. My capacity at a
little over a year out was just under a cup. :)

hiya! i am 19 mos post op and don't measure food either. weird thing is,
some days i feel like i can eat a lot of food and other days, a few bites
satisfies me. another thing is that by now you should be eating a meal
within 15-20 minutes...i was still taking like 30-45 minutes to eat and a
friend who is 15 mos post op told me i was taking too long to eat!
about your question, i don't eat chicken nuggets but i do eat a meatless
tvp nugget ("Buffalo 'Chicken' Nuggets by Morningstar Farms" --
they are spicy and taste just like chicken!!) and i can usually eat 3-4
dipped in ranch so it sounds pretty close to what you ate.
i just try to listen to my body and as long as i'm not gaining weight and i
feel good then i don't worry about measuring food.
good luck,

Hey! we had surgery on the same day! I agree with the first answer that
some days I can eat more and some less. The nuggets and they fries seem to
be about what I can handle on average.

I'm a little over a year out and I have not counted calories at all. I eat
until I feel full (not TOO full) and stop. So far, it's worked. I have
been at goal since September and have maintained my weight loss. I just
stepped on the scale on Saturday and my weight was still the exact same as
it's been since November.

Tammy, I am 14 months post op and am right about where your at with my
amounts of food. I unfortunately cannot eat fries or chicken nuggets
without getting sick, but the amounts are really close. Example, I can eat
a whole corndog,or 1 slice of pizza, or I can eat a sandwich (no crust) and
maybe 4-5 chips. I have never measured or counted calories, that is too
much like dieting for me and I am through dieting. Congratulations on your
wonderful loss.

I will be a year out on 2/8! I don't measure food either, and like you, go
by how the tummy feels. For breakfast I eat a large scrambled egg with
cheese in it, lunch is 1/2 a meat sandwich and a few chips/pickle, dinner
is 3/4 of a Lean Cuisine or 1/2 a small chicken breast with a few bites of
veggie. I can now eat a whole protein bar, or 1/2 a bag of microwave
popcorn. I don't eat chicken nuggets but 4 sounds about right. I do get
fast food grilled chicken sandwiches and can eat 1/2 of one with a few
fries.
