Question:
Could there be something wrong???
I am 2 weeks and 2 days post-op open and from the day I left the hospital I have been able to eat without any problems. I can tolerate everything I eat and seem to not get full like other post-ops do. I am on soft, pureed food at only 4 tablespoons at each meal, but an hour later I am starving? What's up??? — chatterbox213704 (posted on December 21, 2002)

About 2 weeks post op I too was starving, this lasted for about a month. I
was told to drink more water, which helps. I also eat saltine crackers
when I felt hungry--usually 1 did the job, sometimes, I put cream cheese on
them.

I was panic stricken my first few weeks post-op, I was always hungry and
even after I ate had no sense of fullness. I only ate the amount I was
told, but knew I could have eaten more. Once I was switched to solid foods
at about 6 1/2 weeks that changed...I am now barely hungry, and if I am I
fill up very quickly and have trouble eating all that I should. I do not
know if its true or not, but someone also told me that sometimes it takes a
while for the nerves that trigger the sense of fullness to heal and start
working....who knows, it could be another WLS folktale. Either way be
patient, it will happen, just eat the amount you are told for now. I
munched on dry cheerios and saltines in between if the hunger got too bad,
check if thats something you can try as well. Good luck
