Question:
Did I eat to much and not know it?
Alright, i am really freaking out and i need to know if i am just being paranoid...i have a really hard time with my protein. i am almost three months post op but have not yet been able to eat a sufficient amount of protein daily without supplements...my problem is this..yesterday, i had snow crab, which i love...i was able to eat lots of it...at least 1/2 lb...it wasn't a ton of meat but much more than i've been able to consume since surgery...this was all i had for dinner and i barely ate during the day because i was so hungry for the crab...was it too much? or am i just paranoid? i think that im getting upset about this because i feel like i'll be able to slip back into my old habbits...i exercise almost daily and do not eat any sugar or foods high in fat... — Becca P. Don't stress yourself out over this. If you had eaten too much you would
have know it - that is one of the joys of the surgery - early out you
can't overeat without paying the piper, so to speak. The only way you can
outeat the surgery is to eat small amounts very frequently - grazing. But
when you eat a meal, if you overeat you will have tremendous pain and
probably throw up. So, I would say that you didn't overeat. If you ate a
half pound of crab, I assume that includes the shell - not really a lot of
crab meat. You are fine - don't panic.

I am 6 months post and have lost 107 lbs. I am having the same thoughts as
you after I eat what I think is too much. I think we have a hard time
adjusting to actually being able to eat more than a few bites (like those
first few post-op weeks). The further out you get, the more
"normal" the amounts of food you are able to eat a one sitting
will be. Trust me....if you overeat at any one meal you'll know it and you
won't do it again. 1/2 lb of snow crab is nothing compared to what you
probably could have done...I know that would have been a drop in the bucket
for me pre-op. Continue doing just like you're doing and enjoy this new
experience and your new, healthier life.

I have a real simple solution to this question that we all seem to have at
one time or another. Get yourself some Keto-Diax strips. You can find
them at just about any pharmacy. Test your urine on a regular basis. If
your buring Ketones your burning fat.....no way around it. So your not
eating too much for your body. If your not burning Ketones then your not
burning fat so you need to cut back or rethink what your eating. This
works really well if you plateau and are worried you've quit loosing
weight, sometimes we're just retaining fluid, these strips can help
determine what is really going on. Hope this helps
