Rhonda,
I had no problems with Cigna HMO of N.C. Tell them you have joint paint in
your knees and other pressure point areas. Check out my profile. I apply
for the surgery in Jan. 16, 2002 and was approve by Feb25th. But just had
my surgery on Oct. 21st 2002 due to surgeons and hospital problems, not
insurance. I know it is not Texas but maybe it will help. There can't be
that much difference. Good Luck!

I was just approved by Cigna HMO of Georgia on 10/25/02. It only took them
one week to approve me and I don't have any co-morb's at all. I did meet
all of the requirements though. My BMI is over 40, (it is a 42) I had my
psych eval done, I had my Weight Watcher sheet for twelve weeks to show
that I had been on a diet in the past year. I also wrote them a letter, in
addition to my PCP writing a letter, and the surgeon wrote a letter.
Included i my letter was a list of ALL of my diet attempts from the last
ten years. I also submitted records from my PCP from last year who
prescribed Xenical for me. I am scheduled for surgery on December 4th.
Good Luck
