Christina, I am 2 mos post op and I think you are eating too much based on
what you said you ate for breakfast. You are supposed to be eating 5-6
little meals per day, it you do 630cal at breakfast, you are on target for
almost 3000 calories today! At 4 weeks, I was just starting to the
"adventure" into trying new foods. I eat about 600-900 calories
per day. I am more interested in total protein than calories. I try to
get between 60-90g of protein and that is anywhere from 600-900 calories.
Check with your nutrionist about percentages and total intake. Good Luck!

At 4 weeks, I was pretty lucky to be getting in 630 calories in a day, much
less a meal. But you do not say what you are eating to get that amount of
calories. Are they empty calories?? Or packed with protein?? How much of
those are carbs? What is the fat content?? Are you drinking too soon after
your meal?? There is more to what you eat then just the calories.

I guess I wasn't too clear. Sorry. The calories were from about 6:30 am
until 2:30 this afternoon. I would be VERY worried if i ate that much for
breakfast only :o).

Tina,
I am doing about 500-650 calories a day at just short of 3 months. That's
about 80-100 calories at each of 6 small meals spaced throughout the day.
<p>
At about 4 weeks, I was advancing from pureed to soft foods. I was
probably somewhere in the 400-600 calorie range per day at that point...JR

It's a little high for half a day I think. I eat about 350-500 calories a
day and that is between 3 meals. My surgeon absolutely doesn't want us to
eat 5 or 6 times a day because he feels it leads to grazing but everyone
surgeon differs on this so you should just see what yours reccomends. I
know my surgeon says not to go over 1/2 cup in volume (not ounces) and to
drink a lot of water. I don't count grams of anything but I do shoot for
protein and avoid fats and sugar. You are thinking about what you are
having so that is a great sign. Talk to your surgeon or nutritionist and
you will be fine. I'm 8 weeks post op.
