Question:
Question for the ladies...
I'm looking for responses from those of you who have used the new Birth Control patch (Ortho Evra I believe its called). I'm bad with remember to take the Pill everyday, so I want to try this, but its so new to the market... thanks in advance for your input! — sssuzie1 (posted on September 18, 2002)

Lisa, a couple months after my RNY, I became irregular even though I was on
the pill. Fearing the pills weren't working like they should, I switched to
the patch. I did two months on the patch, during which time I was still
irregular. It was nice not to take a pill, but lint collects around the
patch like a bandaid. My boyfriend thought it was pretty gross :) You
should also be aware that they recommend that you weigh less than 198 to
use the patch.
Anyway, I've since switched back to the pill and am regular again...

I was on the pill right after surgery and I was having the worst irreg.
periods....I was having bleeding 3 wks out of the month it was horrible. I
tried switching pills 3 times and never missed one but nothing changed
.Finally my gyn put me on the patch I love it i havent had any bleeding
except when I am suppossed to and I dont have to remember to take a pill.
As the other poster said lint does collect around it but i find it is a
small price to pay, besides only my husband sees my butt anyway. lol.

Hi, You could also try the NuvaRing. It's inserted close to the uterus and
releases a small amount of the same hormones used in the pill. You have to
be comfortable enough with your body, though, to take it out and put a new
one in every month. ;)
