Question:
I need some help on food intake

I am 14 months post-op and am wondering how much the rest of you are able to eat... I started at 298 4/16/01 and am niow 166lbs. These last 10 lbs might kill me. I feel that I'm hungry quite a bit these days and can eat a normal meal. (well almost a normal meal) I would love some input please. Thank you all!!    — Kristina P. (posted on May 30, 2002)

I am one year out and have a stubborn 20 pounds left to go. I can eat quite a bit of some foods (a cup or more) and I don't seem to dump unless I eat something outrageous, such as a piece of cake. (I don't eat sweets though, as a rule.) I find that if I keep to the 20 minute rule, my eating is limited. I am not hungry, but love to graze (my biggest downfall). Writing everything down helps, drinking water and eating those 60 protein grams helps too.

I am 15 months post-op and still cannot eat even half what I used to. I generally have a scrambled egg and piece of toast for b-fast, a Lean Cuisine and vegees for lunch, a can of tuna and 5-6 crackers for an afternoon snack and 4 oz. of meat/fish plus fruits/vegees for dinner. I'm almost always full. I have lost 180.5 lbs. so far and have 36.5 lbs. to go, which I am hoping to have off by the autumn. Wish me luck!

I have my food day listed on my profile for 9 months. I keep looking at it now that I am a year out and want to change it but the truth is I am pretty much still eating the same things in much the same quantities. I eat very little breakfast, a protein bar mid morning, 1/2 of a restaurant meal for lunch, the other half sometime in the afternoon or early evening, and a light dinner (1/2 to 1 cup--usually just some fruit, though). If I stay up, I may have snacky stuff like popcorn, sf cookies, regular cookies (BAD, Cheri, BAD!), or graham crackers with peanut butter. I can eat quite a bit at lunch--sometimes like 1 1/2 cups, but it takes very little in the morning and evening to fill me up. I find that it is in my own best interest to eat frequently cuz otherwise I get the shakes and end up eating too much at one time and becoming miserable. Plus that way I never feel hungry and/or deprived. Hope this helps!
