Question:
Approval for abdominoplasty?
Hello all! I've lost 100lbs so far and am having liposuction done to help the continual loss. My question is this: after all my weight is lost, does insurance cover the cost of a tummy tuck? Has anyone had the procedure done which was covered? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks! — cheryl W. (posted on May 24, 2002)

Cheryl, I'm in the process of gathering all kinds of info for a TT. I've
found the Plastic Surgery forum of this site very helpful! Click on
GALLERY and in the left hand corner, you can click on PLASTIC SURGERY
FORUM. Hope this helps!~

Hi Cheryl. From what I have read here is that some insurance companies will
pay for the TT as long as it is causing medical problems such as rashes,
etc. I hate to say this, but I hope my excess skin causes irritation so my
insurance will pay! *lol* But keep in mind, it all depends on the company.
GOOD LUCK!

Both my primary and secondary insurance providers covered my panniculectomy
and armlift surgery. Initially, my primary provider denied the surgery,
but approved it immediately after I appealed their decision. My plastic
surgeon was amazed that the armlift was approved. He stated that insurance
providers rarely cover that surgery. I wish you the same good luck!
