Question:
Doctor said I am eating more than I should be.
I told him I could eat four ounces of cottage cheese and he said that was a lot. He said if I am eating that now, what will happen a month from now. So, now I am worrying. I don't believe I stretched my pouch. Only twice have I eaten to the point of discomfort. Usually I stop eating, because I fear the pain of overeating. He want's me to do the cottage cheese test to see how much my pouch will hold, but honestly I don't want to know. If I know I can eat more, I probably would. Any comments/advice? — Lisa N M. I would suggest you keep an eye on how long you are eating. My Dr. told us
we should only eat for 20 mins. If you are eating for longer than that the
food will begin to pass through and digest, therefore making room for more
food. Try setting a timer and stop when it goes off.
Good luck

It is natural for the pouch to stretch, but perhaps your doctor is
concerned with how fast your pouch is stretching. For example, I am 14
months post-op and can only eat 8 oz. of cottage cheese. My doctor says
this is about the most I will ever be able to eat at one time, but it took
me 14 months to get there, so I'm not at all upset about it! LOL

Well, now I am worried too! I've been eating four ounces of cottage cheese
since I had the surgery two and a half weeks ago. On a packet of info I
was given from the nutritionist, it said that I was supposed to eat 3 to 4
ounces of food for each meal. Please, someone help us! How much did you
eat in the beginning for each meal?

I am three weeks post op and am supposed to eat SIX, two ounce meals a day
, with FOUR of the six meals being protein only. No drinking 20 minutes
before and no drinking for 30 minutes after. I have been getting in about
five meals a day which my dietician sayS is fine. My program requires all
foods be pureed for first eight weeks post op, but cottage cheese is okay
and deliciuous! I'm tolerating pureed turkey, chicken, imitation crab,
white albacore tuna with no problems.
