Question:
Just curious why do people have revisions doesn't the original surgery work?

Many people who get "revised" had one of the older stomach
stapling operations such as the JIB. The RNY is the "gold
standard" now and few people request reversals unless they don't
tolerate the life changes well.

Some because they had an old fashioned procedure, JIB, horizontal
stapling, VBG, OR they had a good surgery, but gone in an old fashioned way
(like me). The stomachs were not cut apart, only stapled apart, so staple
line disruption caused me to get a new pouch. Some DO revise from a
"too proximal" rny to a more distal procedure. And every now
& then, someone revises from a "too distal" down to something
in between. My doc works with you to customize to fit what you think you
want and what you think you can work with. But my original distal RNY was
1994, before transection was common. NOW I have the best of the best (for
my purposes).
