Question:
Newly post op--- Shape? and fluids? breast reduction

Does anyone have any new post op photos, say under a week or 2, of breast reduction surgery. Anchor incision. Not a lift or augmentation. Purely reduction. I need to know if my new breasts are looking normal. I feel like a deformed freak at 4 days post op. Surgeon says can take months to take on a natural shape but I am so worried. Also, did you have fluid retention in them? I can hear fluids sloshing around in there. I assume the body will absorb it. They took almost 700 g from each breast. I have my post op visit tomorrow.    — Janet S. (posted on May 10, 2004)

There's a great website for this - www.breasthealthonline.org - that has support, a pic board, and lots of other resources. You won't be able to access the pic board with out registering and applying for access. This site is where I did all my research for my BR. When I was at 4 days out, my breasts were swollen, purple and yellow from bruising, had drainage from the "T" incision on the right, and they ached, plus I was starting to get the "lightning bolt" pains as the nerve ending rejuvenated. Those are the shooting pains you may be getting. The swelling can last for a few months, and the PS should have told you that you won't have a finally shape sometimes until a year out. To help with this, take the juice of 1 lemon, add it to hot water, and add sugar to taste (almost like lemon tea, but no tea). This will help with the swelling. Please visit the site. I will email you some of my pics this afternoon when I get home from work. Please send me an email so I have your correct address..Here's mine: [email protected] Denise 316/158

I had Breast Reduction 7 years ago and the shape has never been 'normal'. When I had it done, the surgeon told me that I would need a 2nd surgery in order to remove scar tissue that would build up and perfect the shape. They're kinda ... square, almost. I've not had the 2nd surgery yet, but I'm looking into it, whether my insurance will cover it because of the scar tissue. My Ob/Gyn doesn't like the feel of it, and is actually sending me for my first mammogram & ultrasound on them next week. Good luck!
