Question:
I AM A LOSER NOW:)!!!
Okay, as of Friday the 5th of December I have become a loser and have been home for about 2 days and my question is how do you overcome the cravings that you had before. I am still on the all-liquid diet and sort of feel deprived when everyone else is eating food, so I go and sit in my bedroom by myself. Any input is greatly appreciated:) — Tanya F. Welcome to the losing side!!!!!!! You are dealing with what we call
"head hunger". It kind of feels like the real thing but it's
not. I don't have any answers for you just know that we all lived thru
this phase.

I am having the same problem. I was at a friends house and they were
eating my favorite pizza and I ate my mashed banana! I had my surgery Nov.
26th and the best way is to excuse yourself if you can. When I crave
somethig I grab a sugar-free popsicle and try to think about all the nice
clothes you will be able to wear or think about the pain and suffering you
will have if you eat the wrong fodds right now. Also remember this is only
temporary you will be able to eat most of the foods you like but modified
versions.

I wonder, I'm 2 days pre op and am now on that two day bowel prep so
completely clear liquids and I do get hungry. What helps me is drinking
fluids!! Even when I was on my "diet" in preparation for this
surgery, when I get hungry I'd make me some koolade with splenda or drink
spring water until I'm full (well pleasantly full not painfully full) and
I'm no longer hungry. In fact, my husband would fuss at me because I'd
drink so much fluid that I'd ruin my appetite for dinner (he made me a
large Thanksgiving style dinner on Saturday and I was so thirsty I drank a
lot of soda and guess what, I ended up taking it to work for lunch)!! And
congrats on that surgery, I wish you the best (now off to the bathroom I go
lol).

First of all...congratulations! You are now on your way! I am almost 4
months post-op, and for the first 3-4 weeks, it was really hard. I asked
my family to eat their big hearty meals in a different room so I wouldn't
smell them. And if I saw someone eating sweets (that was my BIG thing!)
I'd about die. However, now, I magically don't crave any of the sweets or
bad things I know I can't have. I'm doing so well, and feeling so good,
it's like my body doesn't want them now! So, hang in there. It won't last
forever, and it will truly be worth it. My trick was to find liquids or
soft food with LOTS of flavor! I use the crap out of garlic salt! I found
cream soups with lots of flavor, like potatoe soup. Refried beans were
great. Try to expirement with different things that might help with that
craving. Good luck!
