Question:
Tylenol Arthritis . . . can we take this post-op?
I started taking this for my joint pain pre-op when they said to stop taking Motrin, I would love to start taking it again and was curious if anyone takes it post-op. — Diane S. (posted on November 26, 2003)

I can't answer about the tylenol, but I'm not allowed to take ibruprfen
anymore. I now take prescription vioxx just one a day, and I am pain free.
(I have arthritis in my hips). I was able to get samples from my PCP

Sandy,
I don't know about the Tylenol Arthritis either but does your WLS surgeon
know you are taking Vioxx. Vioxx and Celebrex are Cox 2 inhibitors and can
cause ulcers and stomach bleeding. Some doctors presceibe Prevacid to be
taken with the other medication hoping to ofset the damage. My surgeon
allows me to take Celebrex when the pain is so bad I can function but then
I can only take it fo r 5 days and then have to be off ofr 5 days. I am
almost 2 years post-op and had one knee replaced last July and will have
the other done next year.
