Question:
IS FROZEN YOGURT JUST AS BAD?
I KNOW THAT ICE CREAM IS NOT GOOD, POST-OP, BUT IS FROZEN YOGURT ALSO NOT GOOD, POST-OP. INFO PLEASE. — Tanya F. (posted on July 11, 2003)

As with everything else you really just have to check the sugar content of
everything. I personally think that frozen yogurt is just called that to
make you not feel guilty for eating ice cream. It is like granola bars
instead of a snickers! Maybe it is a little better but still a really bad
choice. I have had sugar free/fat free ice cream at our local ice cream
place and it was great but had 19 carbs per serving and left me feeling
little dumpy. It will deffinitely be saved for those times where it is that
or something really bad that I will regret for much longer.

I don't know if this will help, but I have a recipe for "frozen"
yogurt. Chop up strawberries and mix with yogurt. Put the mixture in a
small paper cup, stand a popsicle stick in the center and freeze. Not the
same as frozen yogurt, but when you want something cold and sweet, it might
do.
Good luck!

Hi Tanya, I belive everyone has there own diff. opinions on what s good for
themselves and what is not good. I eat no sugar added ice cream sometimes
and even frozen yogurt, but just alittle and try not ot often. So it just
depends on you.

Protein first, of course, but everything in moderation is my motto. That
said, I also dump on SF ice cream/frozen yogurt. Go figure. I might as well
have a couple spoonfuls of the real stuff!

Who says ice cream or frozen yogurt is "bad" or not good?
Everything in moderation...there are sugar free brands of each available if
your watching sugars or if you can't tolerate sugar. I try never to
classify food as "bad". It reminds me too much of those post-op
days when I heaped guilt upon myself for eating a "bad " food,
which of course, led to eating more of the bad food to assuage those guilty
feelings...no more! If I want that ice cream, 1/2 a small scoop it is...

For the first year post op I used to eat the Healthy Choice no sugar added
ice cream. I loved the chocolate chip mint.
But at 2 years post op I can't stand the sugarless or no sugar added ones
anymore and just eat a kiddy cone of regular. Anymore than that small
amount and THANKFULLY I'm quezy. But no sugar added is always the best way
to go with anything.
