Hello Sandra, Lexapro is a drug for depression. I am a nurse in NY and have
seen many experiences with patients taking this drug. It is a fairly new
drug and replaces Celexa for the company that puts it out. It went through
many clinical trials and findings suggest little or no weight gain, little
or no loss of libido and offers lots of help with anxiety and depression.
It is much better than some of the more advertised antideppresants in my
opinion. This is just from seeing my patients reach their goal of happiness
and less edgy type of personality. I hope this helps out!! :-)

Hi, I've been taking lexapro for about 8 mths now for depression and
anxiety. It works wonders for me, and It hasn't affected my weight loss so
far. I am now 10 weeks post-op and down 55lbs.

I guess I am the exception to the rule. I had a very hard time with
Lexapro. Surprised me greatly because it is supposed to be the new wonder
drug with fewer side effects. I had significant weight gain and terrible
gastro problems - it is not unusual for me to have adverse reactions to
medications. I would suggest keeping an eye out for any probs. Good
luck......

I was nauseous on this and very sleepy. My dr. prescribed Wellbutrin which
I took when I quit smoking (it's equivalent to Zyban) with no side effects.

I was on zoloft for 8 years. Just recently switched to Lexapro. I had no
weight gain problems with zoloft (I don't think it was related...LOL)
Lexapro seems to be doing the trick, even better, without apparent side
affects.
