Question:
11 Months Out, Weight Gain, Eating Too Much?
I would like to have some feed back on this am I eating too much? Here's an example of my daily intake:1 egg with cheese, 2 protein shakes, 1 medium apple with peanut butter, 2 sugar free popcicles, small dinner, Zone bar (sometimes) 40 to 80 oz of tea, water and diet Snapple throughout the day. I feel hungry most all the time. I am almost 11 months out and for the last week I've gone up about 5 lbs and can't seem to figure out why. What do others eat in a day please give me some feedback. I also walk some and work out 2 to 3 times a week. Thank you. — icannie (posted on March 12, 2003)

How much sugar and carbs does the protein drinks and protein bar have? I
was eating an apple a day with peanut butter and gained 3 pounds....Even
though the apple is good for you and natural sugar, it is still have in
sugar and carbs....I cut back to 2 times a week and and lost the 3
pounds.....you may want to try....

Do you eat any salad or veggies? What is that small dinner? What time do
you eat it?

five pounds could be extra water or all
kinds of things... keep yourself on track and wait a week.. then weigh
yourself. I think some veggies or salad would likely make a difference in
your hunger level. You might need to add WATER, not tea, not snapple but
WATER.. and some more exercise? All possibilities... Good luck...

Hi Cheryl, I am 1yr, 1.5 months post op. I have been hungry almost the
entire time post-op. It seems I'm not one of the lucky ones who are never
hungry. I also have experienced weight gain, and I've only lost 88 pounds
in this whole time, when others have lost 150+. It is very discouraging to
me. I can now eat A LOT, sometimes I do. I ate for three days at
Christmas and gained 7 pounds. My father-in-law died in late Feb this
year, and I did nothing but eat for 10 days. I am so afraid of getting
back into the eating, eating, eating stage. So, now I've smartened up
again, back on track with food, eat VERY LITTLE carbs each day, and
exercise 5x per week. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. I
guess I have no advice, but wanted to let you know you are not alone!

I am 13 months post-op and I don't think you are eating too much. In fact,
if you are hungry, eat more. I believe in eating whenever you are hungry.
You may want to revert to eating every few hours, but small amounts. Not
necessarily until you are full/stuffed, but until satisfied/comfortable. I
would also drink less tea/snapple and much more water. Look at my profile
towards the end for a sample diet at 1 year post-op. As for going up, this
happened to me at around 11 months post-op too, when I gained 3 pounds (a
pound a day for 3 days). I increased the water, cut down a little on the
carbs, and added another work out session to 4 days a week for about a
month. Got rid of the 3 and another 2. Then stayed the same for a month,
and couldn't work out for a week-back pain and lo and behold, I lost 2
more! Go figure. I think sometimes just shaking up the routine, like
adding an extra 100 calories a day for a few days or less or more working
out-just something different can get the weight going down again. At this
stage, though, it does come off, but much slower and we do have to work to
help it along.
