Question:
Who had plastic surgery less than 1 year post op WLS
As of this morning I am down 58 pounds I weighed in at 175. I know its early but I am researching plastic surgery already. I was a light weight when I started, so loosing almost 60 pounds in 3 and 1/2 months is making my Panni hang even worse and the fungal infections worse to keep up with. The first surgeon I saw said I have over ten pounds of loose skin hanging from my Panni, it hangs below my pubic area and about two inches from the sides of my hips, it was an issue prior to WLS, I just want it gone, The surgeon I saw last week was willling to do it three months post op which falls about now, I am seeing another one on the thirtenth I will see what he says, and he will take my insurance. I want to hear from those who had plastic surgery at least 6 months after surgey, I already heard from those who said it was too early. I just want to see if anyone out there was in the same situation as me. — Teresa G. (posted on March 6, 2003)

I am only 9 months out and I am having plastic surgery. I would have had
it 2 months ago, but my insurance changed. I was told that everything
should be ok for me to have it now and I don't see a problem with having it
this soon. Good Luck!

I have not had it; I am unsure if I will- two main reasons: I wanted to get
my child-bearing over with (why fix something you may mess up again?) AND
the fact that much to my surprise my body has shaped up quite a bit since
surgery... so what I saw at 1 year post, doesn't compare to what it is like
2 years post- (so why fix what isn't needed..) That is JMHO, and I do
suggest every one waits unless the work being done corrects an issue that
is inhibiting normal functions. You could have surgery and lose more
weight from that area and be stuck with sags again. I just feel it is too
soon to see your ACTUAL end result of WLS!

I am 7 months out and I just saw a plastic surgeon today to have the tummy
tuck, I like you have about 12 pounds or more of skin that hangs horrible.
But the plastic surgeon I went to does not take insurance. Can you tell me
who you went to that takes insurance? I live in Langhorne, Pa.

Thank you

WLS was 11/5/01. TT was 8/5/02. I was 10 pounds from my goal weight on my
tt surgery day. Be sure to wait until you get within 20 pounds of your
goal. It will look MUCH better!!

I had a tt & breast lift at nine months out and I'm having my thighs
done at almost a year out. Am I rushing it? Yep. I'm healthy, within
goal and not getting any younger.
