I know EXACTLY how you feel! I'm 10 months out and feel like I could eat constantly. I've lost 112lbs and am now down to 164. My weight loss has slowed down to next to nothing and it's very depressing. I started using fitday and am averaging about 1000 calories a day. Is this too much?? I hope it picks up again. I've still got about 30-35 lbs to go.

Leah, My doctor said that anywhere between 1,000 - 1,500 calories a day is on target. What about your carb and sugar in take? Maybe if you cut down on the carbs and kick up the protein that will jump start the weight loss. Good luck! Marina

I know exactly what you are going through. I'm 9 months post-op and a few weeks ago I started to notice an increase in my appetite and that my carb cravings were starting to creep back into my life. At that time I still had 44 pounds to lose to reach my goal and I was terrified by my new found appetite and cravings. Well, just as this was happening, I went to a support group meeting and spoke with a woman who is 8 years post-op and has been at goal since she was 1 year post-op. She was telling the group that she went through this (increased carb cravings, etc) last year and even gained 20 pounds back. Her physician told her to look into the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet (CAD). Well, she lost the 20 pounds, her cravings went away and she has been back at goal (sometimes even goes below goal) at over a year. Of course, she said that this diet was not for everyone, but I was intrigued because I recognize my tendency towards carbs, pre and post-op. 2 weeks ago I ordered a few of the CAD books from Half.com and I read through them like I was reading my own life story. The 2 Dr.s that wrote this book battled serious weight problems their whole lives and developed this diet as a result of thier personal and professional experiences. One of the developers of this diet was over 315 pounds, tried every diet on the planet and even had stomach stapling. Well, she developed this diet based on her own findings and started to lose serious weight. She met her goal weight (125-130) and has kept it off for 9 years! After reading these books I related all too well to many of these carb addict traits in me as well as my BF so I suggested he read the books as well and he did. Last Sunday we both weighed in and started this diet. We have both lost at least 1 pound a day and neither of us have been experiencing cravings. I feel liberated! The best part is that we have not changed our diets, just modified the times of day that we eat certain things. I almost feel guilty calling this a "diet" because it really isn't. It's just a slight modification on what we were already doing. It's only been 6 days, but I'm happy to say that I am down 6 pounds and now only 38 pounds from goal! Again, this may not be for everyone, but it's been working for us! Good luck! :-)
