Question:
I am two weeks post op and have only lost 10 pounds!
Is this really bad? I am only having water, SF popscicles, broth and SF pudding made with FF milk. I also have started walking and riding my bike. What am I doing wrong? — kelly M. (posted on October 18, 2002)

You are doing nothing wrong! I was in the same weight loss range as you at
the same time period. Actually, I left the hospital (after two days)
weighing more than when I went in. It took me a week to get back to where I
started and another week to loose some pounds. By 4 weeks I had only lost
24 pounds. But, I was, and am still, on target. I am now just two days shy
of being 2 months post op. My weight loss this month has slowed down, but I
am still on target. I started out as a light weight (211). I am not
expected to loose as much, as fast. I believe it is all proportionate to
your starting weight and height. While I may not loose as fast, I will
reach my goal weight quicker as I have less to loose. So, I am not going to
stress about how many pounds I loose each month. I am going to follow the
rules, exercise regularly, watch my food as far as fats and sugars and
continue to drink plenty of fluids (and not snack!). With everything I have
read, I believe I should make goal by 10 months. Now that is progress!!!!
So, stop stressing and congratulate yourself on loosing!

I found there was a lot of fluid retention when i came home form the
hospital and it was not till the third week till the weight started coming
off faster.
