Question:
Anyone use DR. Wongsa? My surgery is in 3 wks, what food will I need
I know he said low carb, but the first week or two, what do I need to have on hand. He also said in the hospital I would be eating before I leave. What will I be eating. It seems most are just having broth. I would like to be prepared before I go to the hospital. — Sharon F. (posted on October 9, 2002)

Does your Dr. Wongsa have a support group? Most good surgeons do. Also,
he should give you printed material that answers all your questions. Check
with his office.

There is a group on yahoogroups.com that deals with surgeries in Houston.
It's called HWLSSG. People there know all about Dr. Wongsa. It's a good
group.

Sharon, Dr.Wongsa did my surg on 4-30-02 and I have lost 110lbs,,,he's a
great doc,,,He likes you to stay on a high protein, low carb diet,,,In the
hosp I ate a couple small bites of scrambled egg, and some sugar free
jello,,,At first you won't be able to hold much,,I drank soup broth, s.f.
jello, crystal light, but not much of anything,,within the first week I ate
a little egg,,then slowly started bacon, tuna, chicken salad,,,meat was
hard for awhile, it did'nt sit well on my stomach,,,but it gets easier ,,,I
never was very hungry, and just a few swallows of anything and I was
full,,I bought liquid tylenol and could'nt even hold much of that,,now I
eat anything I want just still not much of it. Malt o Meal was also
soothing to my stomach,,,Feel free to e-mail me if you want more details of
the surg or the hosp stay,,,and i'll give you my home number,,,Good
luck,,,Susie
