Question:
PCP doesn't think I am absorbing all of Wellbutrin SR. Gave higher dosage
Has anyone else had this problem? I really like the Wellbutrin SR & have had no side effects with it, but I don't seem to be getting the full effects like my doctor thinks I should so she upped my dosage to 400 mg a day. Anyone else taking this much? Thanks... — Lori M. (posted on August 20, 2002)

I had the same problem, apparently has to do with being time released. I
was put on Wellbutrin 150 x 3 a day. Has helped, when I remember to take
them. You might want to ask for the non time released.

I also take the SR. I thought anything over 350 a day was unhealthy. My
book on this is at home but I will check it tonight. I wonder why you are
having absorption problems? I guess I better check it out with my doctor
too.

Wellbutrin can be prescribed above 350...450-600mg is more like the
maximum. I have given patients Wellbutrin SR 200 mg BID without problems.
In fact, the company just started making 200 mg tablets.

I was on the SR too and learned that as post-ops sometimes time release
pills don't work for us because they move through our system too quickly
and aren't absorbed. Once I switched to regular Wellbutrin I felt much
better.

Where have you been???? ;) There have been tons of questions on Welbutrin
SR. You need to go to Welbutrin. Forget the SR. It does'nt work for us
anymore.
