Question:
Does anybody know if TOMATO SOUP can count in the liquid diet phase?

I was told by my doctor not to eat tomato soup because of the high acidity and sugar in it. However, every doctor has their own opinion. I would check with your doctor or dietician and find out what they think. Good luck.

My doc said no tomato soup. Too much sugar. Too bad too, because I -really- wanted some tomato soup after surgery :/

My surgeon also recomended tomato soup. I added skim milk and a couple table spoons of powdered (for Xtra protein) to it. I would put it in a coffee mug and sip it during the liquid phase. Yummmm it was soooOOoooO good during those first few weeks.

Maybe I'll break this 2/2 tie! Ha! Ha! Seriously, you should probably check with your surgeon. Not only did my nutritionist and surgeon recommend it, I even had it in the hospital after my surgery! I loved it. good luck!

My doctor allowed it and the nutritionaist recommended it. It tastes and feels good in the new pouch.

My nutrionist said no to it. They add high fructose corn syrup to it. Since you are getting a variety of responses, I would probably test it out. Take 1 bite, wait 5 minutes. I usually know after the 5 minutes if something is going to make me ill. If it doesn't make you ill, just take it slow, you definately don't want to get ill.

my doctor said "no cream soups"!! when i went in for my first checkup i told him i ate tomato soup, it stayed down when others didn't and i was eating it.. he just looked at me. in 9 months i've lost 225 pounds and am at goal and i have been eating tomato soup all the way down to goal..(not every day of course) so listen to what your dr. says, then listen to your "new stomach" and you decide.. good luck..
