Question:
Milk with Isopure

I purchased a gigantic tub of Isopure (Dutch Chocolate) yesterday and I am drinking my first "shake" as I write. It's not as bad as I thought...but after a few sips it gets pretty rancid. The guy at the store told me to mix it with milk instead of water, but the directions say "water". Does anyone use low-fat milk with it instead of h20? I imagine it might taste better with milk, or maybe blended with ice (I use the GNC shaker cup for now). Also...I read a post where someone added some hazlenut coffee thing to their shakes...I was thinking of doing that or adding something else. P.s...I was reading the past posts on Isopure, and people said we can only absorb 30g of protein at one sitting, so 2 scoops of Isopure at 50g is a waste. Is this true? Thanks so much. - Kelly...(hell bent on getting back on track and trying my best).    — Kelly C. (posted on August 6, 2002)

Hi Kelly! I use Isopure Vanilla in the big jug almost every day. I make a shake with water, and 1 scoop of Isopure and 1 scoop of Carb Solutions Strawberry, and I use the GNC mixer cup-I find this very tolerable. I did use skim milk originally and it was very thick but still tolerable. I traded to water because I was trying to save some calories.I also have mixed it with Ice and that is good too but since it works for me with just 6-8oz of water and the mix I tend to stick with that. I have also added fruits and extracts to make it interesting. I did also hear that we can only digest 35grams of protein at a time, and anything over that is a waste (I asked the manager at GNC who said he is a licensed nutrion expert) so he suggested I have 2 seperate shakes at different times of the day if I wanted to get all my protein in through the drinks. I only have one though and get the rest in through food. Also, if you don't like the chocolate (I couldn't stand it!) GNC does guarantee their products so bring it back, I did that with both the dutch chocolate and the strawberry Isopure-I still can only handle the vanilla. I hope that helps, please email me if you need anything or have other questions!

I use isopure vanilla with orange juice and a banana, its not that bad, u get used to the taste, also strawberry isopure with o.j is pretty good. Sometimes i use designer whey chocolate, and i'll mix it with some carnation instant breakfast (sugar free) with some skim milk, not bad.

I drink the chocolate every day. I mix 1 1/2 scoops with water and 2 packets of artifical sweetener. I have used milk and I also like that but to save on calories I use water. I only use 1 1/2 scoops because 50 grams of protein to digest at one time is too much. I have forgotten to add the sweetener and it doesn't taste as good. I have SF syrups that I also add occasionally that are good in it also (caramel and hazelnut). Good luck!

I would not listen to the GNC people-I use to manage a store and they do not require any special training. I use 100% Whey powder and mix it with water and and about 2tsp of Jello sugar free instant pudding powder-it kinda thickens it up and makes the after taste better. Alos shake or blend with some ice. I have heard of using DiVinci sugar free syrups but I havent tryed them. I kinda like my shake. 6wks post-op and down 43lbs!
