My angel had surgery with Dr. Overcash... open. BUT she only had a three
inch incision and the surgery only took 40 minutes. I understand he is
abrupt, but one of the best surgeons in the country!

Hi Kelli. You should be able to go to the "find peers" section of
this site and find people who have had Dr. Overcash. You can email them
directly and ask any questions. There is also a support group meeting held
the last Thursday of every month. I didn't have Overcash, but I have been
to the support group meetings that are held by my surgeon, Dr. Jawad. The
meetings are for everyone who has had surgery or just wants to sit in and
listen or ask questions. Email me if you have questions.

I have to warn you about Overcash. His license is in the process of being
revoked. I just had Jawad do mine. They are both in Ocala. And I did
heavy research on each. Jawad is a better surgeon and takes better care of
his patients. I was even told by the nurses in the hospital that they were
happy I chose Jawad over Overcash. There are worse surgeons than Overcash.
But between the two in that area, Jawad has higher credentials. Call the
BBB and get the number to see how many malpractice suits Overcash has and
then make a decision. Any problems they have had professionally is public
knowledge and good info when making a decision. I don't want to scare you,
but do your research.

I have a friend that used Dr. Overcash and she had a major incision
infection and told me that 4 other patients of his within a 4 week period
had the same. Please make sure and do your research.

Hi Kelly - I personally had Dr. Jawad, Lap RNY on 8/28/01, with no
complications at all. I would strongly recommend Dr. Jawad - he's a
terrific surgeon, don't think I'd trust anyone else, and he's got a
wonderful aftercare program, also. Good luck!

Hi Kelli. I was going to respond earlier about this but had decided to keep
my mouth shut. NOW since others have posted, I will post.....I have heard
the same negative things about Overcash. I had nurses tell me that they had
taken care of his patients and there seems to be a very high incidence of
infections with him. I had numerous people in the medical field HIGHLY
recommend Dr. Jawad over Overcash. As for the first post, I don't know
where you got your info that Overcash was one of the best in the country??
You were very misinformed. Kelli, I would do more research if I were you.

Well, now MY two cents worth...I am 3 weeks post op open RNY with Dr.
Overcash, and I have absolutely NO problem with him...all of his patients
that I have met, either through email, support groups or actually talking
to them have said the same thing! Also, there is a framed magazine in his
waiting room from a surgeons magazine, and he is listed as one of the top
surgeons in the country!! I find him to be precise, and extremely adept at
what he does. By the way, my insicion is 4 1/2" long, and my suregry
took 20 minutes. I have had no infection or problems at all!
