I would suggest going to Vitalady.com and ordering some samples. That way
you can try several different brands without spending a million bucks. I
also had a terrible time finding one I could stand, until I found Proscore
100 Chocolate. It actually tastes GOOD believe it or not. I plan to use
protein supplements for my whole life. I am 2 1/2 years post RnY now.
Good Luck!

I have found that Isopure drinks from GNC are tolerable. I am just like
you, I can't stand them either!! Try one of those drinks, the melon one is
the best for me. It tastes like a green apple jolly rancher.

We all have the fear that we won't lose weight (in the beginning) this is
very normal, but you're also implying you're having difficulties eating!
Your main concern this early out should be healing. As, it is a fact that
a certain intake of calories, vs. what you burn= you losing weight. Please
read this site (listed at the end), and be assured, you will start losing
weight. Also, hang onto those protein supplements, your food cravings (and
emotions) are going to have a rollercoaster ride over the next 4 months,
and you MAY like them later. Here is that site:

Go here for many ideas on how to make good quality proteins palatable
without making them into weight gainers. These people have ideas that
really make you salivate. I'm not one. I'm a powder+ water+ ice girl
myself, but these people are Gourmet Protein Preparers! LOL!

I can empathize. Soon after post-op your taste buds are going through
changes. I HATED my protein powders until around a month out. Why? I don't
know, but you have to keep trying and you DO have to make sure that protein
is part of your life for always. I use Isopure low carb Chocolate, it is
really good if you mix it with cold, cold water and/or ice. I know a few
people have mentioned using milk, but from the literature I have read, milk
has sooo much natural sugar in it that it may make you dump. If you find a
powder that is palatable, try mixing with fruit, etc.

I agree with Karen. It's so early that you should still just be concerned
with healing. Nothing really awful will happen to you if you go without
protein for a few weeks post op. Also, if you are eating meats and fish,
you are getting some protein in. And there are some doctors who tell you
never to use protein shakes. If you can get all the protein you need
without them, don't worry about it.

I have no problem w/the protein powders, but my dr said you could mix it
with yogurt, which sounded good. I never tried it because I can stand the
drink just fine, but it might be an option for you.
