Marie, I too was told it didnt cover this procedure.. my
nurse and primary physician went to the Utilization Dept.
within my insurance to take it to the panel for approval..
only the Dr's office can contact this dept. within.. do some
more checking and investigating.. ask around.. be noisy..
good luck...

PLEASE do NOT give up. That is exactly what the insurance companies want
you to do. I had an exclusion in my policy BUT morbid obesity is a
situation wher the exclusion is meaningless because you qualify for the
surgery and even though the insurance company will try to deny you
treatment, they are practicing discrimination if they don't cover you.
Please ead my profile to see what I learned and went through I will send
you a copy of my letter that got me from denial to approval within a week
with no formal appeal.

Does your insurer know that your diagnosis is "morbid obesity:?
That, often, makes all the difference. Every insurance has
limitations on services for obesity; but, morbid obesity is a
whole different matter.
