Question:
Has anyone had problems or what is the time frame for using the stairs after surgery?

I have 8 stairs up to my bedroom, and 8 down to the family room where I
would sleep in the recliner for the first two nights, I had no problems
going either direction, I just took it slow and easy. I had heard you
weren't suppose to use the stairs but could not stand to stay in one place
for very long.

There are 16 steps to our bedroom. I had surgery on Thursday, came home on
Sunday and slept downstairs that night. I tried to sleep downstairs on
Monday but got claustophobic in my son's tiny room so I went upstairs and
slept all night. I didn't have any problems with the stairs. I just went up
at night for bed and came down in the morning. Not a lot of running up and
down.

Hey, we have the same last name!!! hehehe. Anyway, I had no problem with
stairs at all. There were a few at my mom's house where I did most of my
recovering, and a about 10 at home where I spent my evenings. No problem.
Good luck. Open RNY 10/31/00 -121 lbs.

I live in a second floor condo, so I used the stairs as soon as I came home
from the hospital and every day after that. No problem at all. Just take
it easy and you'll be fine.

I had an open-RNY at 6:00p.m. on Tuesday and walked up my 12 stairs to our
bedroom upon my return home on Thursday at about 3:00p.m. I took it slow,
but had no problem. I too had the same question pre-op. Good luck.
