Question:
I need info/website on professionally endorsed WLS
I need to document that WLS is uniformly and professionally endorsed by the general medical community in the United States. I need to add this to my appeal. Thanks for any help. — Cheryl P. (posted on April 27, 2001)

Hey Cheryl, hope all is well with you. I'm still praying for you. I go to
the Clinic for my 3 appts all next week. I'll let you know how things
went.
Anyway, on this site are the NIH guidelines for obesity surgery. I don't
know if that will help your appeal. Also, I still think pictures might
make things more personal to the board. Good luck! Kim

You can go to www.guideline.gov/index.html. This is the National Guideline
Clearinghouse. If you run a search for gastric bypass or obesity, you can
find articles, clinical guidelines, etc. for different facets of the
medical field. For example, I found one for the AACE/ACE position statement
on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of obesity. It has specific
guidelines for different approaches in the treatment of obesity. Surgery is
included in that. Also, search from the NIH web site and it can give many
references to use. (One of which should be WIN, Weight Controld Information
Network). Good luck.
