My surgery isn't until 12/15 but I have met already with my dietician and she gave me a sheet for week 3 that says cream of wheat - creamy yogurt - cream soups like creamy tomato - skim milk - sugar free jello - sf popcicles - still liquids not anything chunky or large pieces. She gave me a recipe for a turkey puree - SMALL AMOUNTS is the key. Hope this helps. BEST OF LUCK!!

I am a little over 4wks out today (surgery 10/6/03). I have been eating cottage cheese, soups, string cheese, eggs, turkey spam (it is good if you heat it up and put some very tiny pieces of it in your scrambled egg but a little of it goes a long way in filling you up. It is low in calories and high in protein for a meat), protein shakes mixed with ice to make them like a smoothie, baked chicken breast (it is soft if you don't over cook it and just take really small bites then chew really good), tuna, meaty spagetti sauce (homemade so I can control the sugars more and I like to add some dark red kidney beans for fiber and protein), refried beans because their soft but not too often since they are higher in carbs, & cheese. I was 263 the day of my surgery and my goal weight is 155 (I'm 5'9" so my ideal weight is higher than some). I have lost 25 pounds as of this morning and tomorrow is my one month anniversary so I am right on track. These are the foods that are on our post-op list. You, of course, should follow your doctor's diet plan but this is what I have been able to eat since about 2 1/2 weeks out. I only get sick if I eat a little too fast or take a bigger than I should drink of fluid. Even that has only happened a few times. I hope this helps you.

Hey Heather... 3 weeks today for me... I am eating "soft foods" which include potatoes, baked with butter and cheese, mashed or boiled... any soft cooked veggies... I read a recipe from the Library on this site of a good "soup" to make.... sautee cauliflour (I used cauliflour and brocolli combo) in a small amount of butter... cover it with chicken broth and let it cook till soft... mash the veggies with a pot. masher.. top with low fat cheese.. yummy... I can eat about 1/3 cup of this.. I also am loving me some baked fish... have tried a couple different kinds... catfish seems to be my favorite.. it bakes up very soft... have also had some left over salmon from "Longhorn"... tonite I tried the little Gerber chicken sticks for toddlers.. look like little vienna's.. they are pretty good also. I also eat crackers with either peanut butter or cream cheese.. (can only eat 2 to 3 at a time)... I also can eat soft pasta like the mac n cheese from KFC.. it's wonderful! Also canned ravioli... anything really soft. oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat... I am pretty satisfied with my VARIETY, my problem is knowing when to quit, I can't tell when I am full.. so my mouth still wants to eat but I have to make myself stop. Tonite I ate about 1/3 of a baked potato from Wendys' with cheese... it was so good and soooo hard to stop eating. I have over eaten and eaten too fast twice and made my self miserable.. didn't barf but just felt really queasy for a bit. Hot decaf tea helps this.. I am drinking alot of that with splenda.. Anyway, sorry this is sooo long but hope it helps!
