Question:
Am I eating ok for 6 weeks post op?
I have been so worried about this. I feel that I am eating too much, even though the dietician says I am not. This is what I ate yesterday. Most days it is about he same thing. breakfast: 1oz string cheese wrapped in 1 oz delit roast beef. Snack: 1 oz string cheese 3 reduced fat triscuits. Lunch: 3/4 cup ham and bean soup. Snack: 2 deviled eggs(1egg). Dinner: 1/2 c. ground trukey breast with speghetti sauce and 1/4 c. whole wheat speghetti. Snack: 4 steamed shrimp, 2 tsp. cocktail sauce, 1/4 Detour bar. 80 oz water how does this sound? — Stacie B. (posted on August 12, 2003)

It doesn't sound bad... kinda heavy on the fat, but that's okay for right
now! Check out my second profile (under sharon m. brittain) for a good
reality check diet, okay? :~) As long as you are losing weight, not
stuffing yourself and getting in all your needed protein, you should be
fine! :~)

It sounds like you're making good, protein, food choices. I was eating
only four times a day at 6 weeks out (still do at four and a half months
out), so you're eating more frequently than I do, but the volume of each
meal doesn't sound like too much. My dietitian told me I could eat more at
that stage, but I didn't want to get into the habit of eating six times a
day: I was afraid what that habit would mean when I was able to eat greater
volumes of food. I don't think even now I could eat the volume of 1/2 cup
of ground turkey with 1/4 cup of spaghetti and sauce, but if there was more
sauce than turkey, maybe. If the dietitian in your program says you're
doing OK, that's a pretty good indication that you are.

The amounts sound OK and how often you eat, as well as some good protein in
there, but where are the veggies?? Your missing those green, yellow and
orange veggies. Instead of the spaghetti with dinner, try steamed broccoli
or squash. Other than that, your doing well, specially on the water!

I can't eat any more than 2 oz. at a time now at 3 1/2 weeks post-op.
Would I really be able to eat that much at 6 wks. post-op?
