Go to www.protein-solution.com. There is a recipe page of smoothies and frosty freezes for protein shakes. I like the orange creamsicle and the cookies and cream the best. Real Meals was the best that I found. And because it has 60 grams of protein you don't have to drink a lot.

I've tried ALOT of protein shakes and my personal favorite is purchased @ GNC. It's called Isopure - I buy the Zero Carb one and the Strawberries & Cream is my favorite flavor. The whey protein mixes very well even with a spoon and the consistency is decent, although you can mix it in a blender with ice so it will be thicker. I know your frustration, we've all been there. Best of luck!

There are so many out there... it is just a matter of trial and error before you find the one you like. My favorite is Twin Labs Super Whey Fuel. I doctor it enormously, though!! I have lots of shake/food suggestions on my profile... check it out and see if it helps any! Good Luck! Oh, yeh... Boost and Slim Fast have WAY too much sugar!!!

I like champion pure whey stack, it is great. I buy it online from wlssuccess.com, they also have all others kinds of shakes and for 1.50 you can buy a sample. They just came out with mochchinno and banana flavor.

I like the canned Atkins Advantage shakes---Chocolate Royale only. The coffee flavored was gross. I also found a powder at Vitamin World---Body Fortress whey protein. Each scoop is 17g of protein. I used 2 scoops with 10 oz. of skim milk in a Tupperware shaker. It was the only powder I could stand---not gritty. It kinda has a weird smell in the container but it is pretty good. Again, I only used the chocolate. I don't love the fruit flavored stuff in any of the bottled liquids.. They remind me of drinking lollipops LOL!!!!

My personal favorite is the Chocolate Pure Whey Stack by Champion Nutrition. It has a real chocolate taste, has been compared to a fudgesicle. I shake it up with 4-6 oz of water - you don't need a blender to mix this one, which is very convenient. Some powders are much harder to mix. You want to be careful when trying shakes because some are actually meant for people who want to gain and are high in sugar and carbs. And if you mix it with water instead of milk, you can avoid the fat and sugar in milk. You can get Pure Whey stack from www.fitrx.com, www.vitalady.com or www.wlssuccess.com.

Lately I have been using Designer Whey Natural (no taste), and adding it to different things. Lately it's been fruit smoothies. Super-Walmart sells a Fruit Smoothie kit, it includes the fruit, and a smoothie powder. You just add juice or water and then I add the protein powder and blend. They're very tasty! I can't remember the name of it, but is's in the freezer ailse. I've other post-ops suggest to me to add sf-jello, or sf-pudding to the shake mixes. Those work pretty good to. I tried kool-aid, but it was terrible, so I wouldn't recommend adding that, but definitely try the others. Good Luck! - Autumn

I also have a tough time with protein shakes. But, a friend of mine gave me a great recipe. In the blender, I mix one scoop of chocolate whey protein powder, 1 cup nonfat milk, half or less teaspoon of instant decaf coffee, half packet of Splenda sugar subs, some ice cubes and blend. Tastes almost like a Starbuck's frappucino. Great for the hot weather! When I'm on the run, I drink the Advantage EAS Chocolate Fudge ready to drink shake, it has 15 g of protein and is 99% fat free, 28 g total carbs. My favorite flavor is the Chocolate Fudge and I buy it at Wal-Mart and Safeway.

I like Real Meals for the convenience, but I like the taste of Sci-Fit whey powder. My husband likes the Vita4Life liquid protein packets. I just bought a 5 lb container of Sci-Fit whey protein for $32.99 of the Raspberry Delight. A scoop and a half in some water and crushed ice are really good, and comes out to 30 grams fo protein. I don't need to add anything to it. No aspartame in it, either. My dietician recommended Choice DM (made for diabetics) for something ready made, yet low in sugar. It's okay, and it got me through the early days after surgery.

Hi Pamela: Boy, do I know the feeling! Of course, no matter what anyone tells you (including me), you have to try it all to see how it tastes to YOU. I tried so many...Real Meals, Isopure, EAS, Atkins, Ultra Pure...you name it! I stayed on Ultra Pure the longest, because I could tolerate it...Then, as I became more accustomed to speaking with the nutritional experts at the muscle/fitness stores, I started learning more...I befriended the owner of a store near me. He is a body builder, and a certified nutritionist & counselor. He had actually taken the time over the past couple of years to learn about WLS. He knew so much about our surgery, how we absorb, etc. I told him I was having a tough time with almost every protein supplement. He saw that I was buying the Ultra Pure, and explained to me that I don't absorb as much of that type of protein, so I need to take that into consideration. I told him it was the only one that tasted OK to me, and asked for his help. The one thing that DID impress me is that he wasn't trying to sell me something more expensive, but seemed as though he was selling me what would benefit me the most. He recommended Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex. When I figured it out, I was getting very little protein in that small 11 oz. can of Ultra Pure. Plus, I had to drink 25-26 oz. a day to get the minimum requirements. The Pro Complex is a powder. I poo-poo'd and told him I couldn't stand the powders. He promised me that he'd buy back the huge jar of it if I tried it & didn't like it. Well, I tried it...and I liked it! I mix with water so as to not add extra calories/sugars from milk, PLUS (and this is the HUGE benefit), ONE SCOOP gives me 27 grams of protein, almost 95% of which is absorbed). Now, the 2nd benefit...I mix 3 heaping scoops into ONLY 15 oz. of water, AND that gives me over 80 grams for the whole day! I supplement with protein from foods to get up to 90-100 grams a day. You can only absorb so much at one time, so he recommended drinking only 5 oz. at a time. So, I drink 5 in the morning, 5 mid-day and 5 before supper. I think it's helping my weight loss tremendously!! The chocolate is yummy, strawberry is my 2nd favorite. I haven't tried vanilla, but I'm not a vanilla fan. I have researched prices on the internet, and whenever I find the Pro Complex cheaper (I take into account shipping costs), I print it and take him the proof, and he ALWAYS matches the price! I know this is long, but I wanted to make sure to relay to you that it's just as important to talk to someone who knows what you NEED, not just what tastes great, or costs less. Best of luck!! Try it! It can't hurt! Hopefully, you'll find a retailer who's just as considerate & knowledgeable.

heya there.. just a thought..but maybe buy up some samples..for before surgery..and then just as many as for after surgery.. because..my tastes changed alot after surgery..even from right after to now.. immediately after surgery ..all i could drink was isopure dutch chocolate and that was only heated a bit.. (so i could pretend..and i say that loosely.. that it was hotcoco).. and now.. (im about 8 months postop).. i can only drink myoplex ready made shakes or 5+1 whey dutch chocolate..mixed with water and a spoon of peanut butter.. add ice..lol.. so.. good luck with whatever you end up choosin.. bb

Hi, try Unjury (www.unjury.com). You will think that you are drinking chocolate milk, they also make vanilla, and now they have an unflavored one, that you can mix into whatever flavor that you want. There is no grit or after taste, 20 grams of protein in an eight ounce glass. Good luck. Sue

iF YOU LIKE THOSE EXPENSIVE COFFEE'S FROM Starbucks...try BioChem's Carmel Swirl...I mix it with a cup of decaf coffee first thing in the morning and a packet of Splenda..it is delish!!!! Never even know you are having a 20 gm. protein shake. ( I usually add a little half/half only about 1 l/2 grs of carbs) You can find this at HealthFood Stores ..but they may have to order this flavor since it is new. I thought ALL protein shakes were nasty...until this.

Hi...I just bought Pro Score 100 chocolate by Champion Nutrition, from Vitalady (this is whey protein). Michelle recommends it (on her own website, not on here) as her own favorite, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's VERY GOOD! Nice light chocolate flavor...no aftertaste. I use a scoop and a half of the powder (24 grams of protein, 120 calories) in 12 ozs. of water, and shake it up with ice. I prefer a sort of runny shake. I've tried several others and just couldn't stand them. I actually feel I will get my money's worth from this can (I bought the small size, 12 oz), and will buy more.

I can whole-heartedly recommend Unjury. You've probably never heard of it but I tried it at a health faire and I loved it. They now have other flavors but at first it was only chocolate and that's the flavor I love. Check out their website at http://www.unjury.com/ - it might not have as much protein per dose as some others but it's the only one who's flavor I can stand time and time again!
