I think you are doing great. I am 10 weeks post-op, and could eat that much
at 4 weeks. I try to eat the same now as I did then. You should try to
stay away from the crackers, although 4 isn't bad. I know when I start
eating crackers, I just keep eating them. Good luck, keep up the great
job.

Sara!!! Thanks sooo much for asking the question I've been wanting to ask.
I'm 3 weeks post op and can eat a whole cup of soup with 3-4 crackers, no
problem. I also DO feel hungry after about 3-4 hours without food. I
thought everyone said they never feel hungry. I'm a little worried, too.
We want so desparately to be successful, finally, ya know?! I hope others
post answers to your question. Good luck to you. Keep in touch with me
via email if you want. Lap RNY 3/18/03

Keep in mind that surgeons make different size pouches ranging from a 1/2
ounce micropouch to an average 2 oz or some are even 4 oz. So someone with
more room can eat more than someone with less room. If the tuna was not
piled high, I probably could have eaten 3 or 4 crackers with tuna at 4
weeks post-op. As for being hungry again in just a few hours, that is
totally understandable. When you have such a small pouch and 45 minutes
after eating your drinking and this washes out the small amount of food in
your pouch, then of course you would be hungry. Especially as a new
post-op, I was eating every few hours, a good 6 times a day, just a few
ounces at each meal. Even at 14 months post-op, if I am hungry I
eat-again, small amounts and I try to do good for me foods, like a piece of
fruit or an ounce of cheese etc. Some new post-ops lose their hunger for a
good 6 months, and others come out of surgery hungry and stay that way-just
the luck of the draw. As a new post-op though, try to really think to
yourself whethr you are actually hungry or is it just head hunger?
Sometimes it takes us a while to adjust to just eating when hungry and not
grazing round the clock like we used to do...
