Question:
I don't know how much to eat, and am hungry a little
I suspect I am not eating enough. I had open RNY on 9-30-02. Having trouble with protein. Has anyone ver dumped on the Isopure grape protein drink? HELP?? — Lesa H. (posted on October 12, 2002)

I haven't tried that kind of protein drink -- I generally mix my own with
powders or eat part of a protein bar. As far as how much to eat, I heard a
great suggestion at a support group meeting recently. Get some applesauce
in the little snack bowls. I know Mott's has them; others may also. After
you eat the applesauce, save the container. That little cup is the perfect
size for a regular pouch. I've also read that a good rule of thumb is to
stop eating the first time you sigh. That's a clue that you've had enough.
Hope this helps. As far as the protein drink, I would simply check to see
how much it has in the way of sugar grams and actual sugar. I try to keep
my sugars below 15g when I have a protein bar. I haven't dumped yet though
so I don't know my limits. That's just what I do.

I seriously wouldn't worry about how little your eating right now since
you're barely two weeks out. Make sure you drink lots and take your
vitamin supplements and you should be fine while you get used to eating
foods again. It takes time. I didn't eat too awfully much the first
month. A little here and a little there. I found that the no-sugar added
Carnation Instant Breakfast with low-fat milk went down well (and if you
add some powdered - dry - milk to it it adds protein) and didn't leave me
feeling bloated or over-full. It will get better with time. Oh and no,
never dumped on the Isopure. I just didn't like the taste :>(

Are you talking about the Isopure Zero Carb Grape Frost drink in the glass
bottle? If you are, it shouldn't make you dump as it has no fat or sugar
in it. In regards to the suggestion of "eating applesauce", make
sure you get the unsweetened version as it usaully contains alot of sugar.
