Question:
Making sure I'll be getting enough protein....
Hello All. I am still pre-op, but I'm trying to get a handle on the protein issue. I am aware that there are many foods that are high in protein, but I also know that to get in the amount recommended, I will need more. I am sure that I will eventually find a protein shake/drink that I can tolerate, but I am very curious about protein drops, pills or liquids that are flavorless. I went through the library and noted a couple of posts about Procel. Is it true that it has no taste? Any suggestions? — karmiausnic (posted on August 15, 2002)

It's not UTTERLY tasteless, but it is easy to overwhelm it. In water, it
very distantly reminds me of milk, as if milk had been in the glass but not
rinsed? It buries in sugar free Tang, for example, or your coffee or tea,
but will make a cloudy appearance (like milk) and taste slightly milky. It
can be mixed into foods, though. You might want to pop onto the Protein
list for ideas. I'm a protein + water girl myself, but these guys can make
dirt taste good. Many use the ProCel and UpCal very creatively
This was formerly the Protein Shakes Addict and Perverts, but I think the
old database is still accessible til I get a new one

Hi Karen, I am six months post op, down 71 lbs. I drink Nature's Best,
Isopure, Zero Carb protein drinks. One 20 oz bottle provides 40 g of
protein. If I have good protein intake, I only drink 1/2 of the bottle.
If I have a not so good protein intake, I drink the whole bottle. At
first, the taste is yukky, but I soon got used to it. I add ice cubes, and
that helps. My favorite flavor is the grape, my sister's fave is the apple
melon (which I haven't even tried cuz I think it sounds gross!!). You can
order it from www.performancenutrition.com It costs $33.95 for a case of
12 (ya, rather expensive, but worth it!). Good luck!
