Question:
I feel like I'm eating way too much. I'm 6 weeks post-op.
I was told to eat until I feel full and when I do that it is always twice as much as it is suppose to be. Tonight I tried Chili for the first time and ate 1/2 cup with no problem. I can eat cottage cheese until it is gone, almost. Why am I not satisfied with 2 ounce portions? Is my stoma too large? Thanks for any help you can give me. — Diana M. (posted on February 12, 2002)

Those are both really soft foods and you can fit more. Have you tried to
eat chicken or an egg, or something more solid? I bet you can't eat much
of that. You sound completely normal to me! I'm 4 weeks out and I know I
can eat more of soft foods than I can say an egg. I can eat about 1/2 an
egg and then I'm stuffed!!

I agree eating something more substantial will show you how quickly you can
get full. I get fuller quicker on Chicken, than I do on soup. I can eat 2-4
ounces of chicken before I start to get that sick feeling. that is how I
know I am full. I can eat 20 ounces of soup in a meal that takes 20 minutes
to eat, and still feel like there is room, because it goes through you much
quicker.
I read somebody's Post on this site awhile back that stated he tracked a
Piece of lettuce he ate through his system in like 20 minutes. Now I don't
pass food that quickly, but you get the idea.
