Question:
What foods will I need at home for the first two weeks for the Full Liquid Diet Stage
My surgeon has me on a full liquid diet for two weeks. He lists a sample menu with Carnation, Broth, Crystal Light, Tea, and water. Is this it? How about s.f. popcicles, tomato soup, protein drinks? Please give me some advise, my surgery is next week. — Melissa T. (posted on January 10, 2002)

The items you described in your question are considered "clear"
liquids. Not sure if you meant clear instead of "full". Full
liquids include cream soups (strain the chunks). You'll find that (much to
MY surprise) that tomato soup has a LOT of sugar in it..NOT a good idea!!
However, Dole Fruit Juice popsicles and No-sugar-added Fudgesicles were a
LIFE SAVER for me.. I wasn't very good at following Dr.'s orders or I'd
have more help to offer you. I was eating regular foods (SOME..and chewing
the HECK out of them) two weeks after my surgery. ALWAYS..ALWAYS get your
Protein and your water in... Those are the two main things to focus on in
the weeks following your surgery. And EXERCISE..! Get started walking as
soon as you are able..! You'll feel better and the weight will come off
quicker..!! Good Luck..!

No one has mentioned Chinese egg flower soup. I saw it on one of the
hospital websites liquid diets. They also inclueded eggs in general as ok
in the full liquid diet. Sorry I don't have the name of the site on hand.
