Question:
Could drinking Crystal lite instead of plain water inhibit weight loss?
As many of you know already, I've been plagued with plateaus since my WLS (open RNY proximal) last March. As a rule, I've managed to get in my full 64oz of water daily, but most of that is usually in the form of a sugar-free, flavored water like Crystal lite. I do try to include just plain water (8-16 oz )as part of the 64 every day, but (and I know I may be just floundering here) I'm wondering if the Crystal lite could be contributing in someway to these plasted plateaus (or am I just "all wet"?). — cj T. cj, keep drinking the crystal lite if you want. There are so many opinions
about water vs other liquids that it is really a matter of you deciding
what answers and rationale make sense to you. If you want to try an
experiment then stop drinking the crystal lite for a few weeks and really
only drink 64 oz of water. See if your weight loss picks up or changes. If
things stay the same or only change a little bit, then you could assume
that the crystal lite and water don't make that much of a difference. If
there is a dramatic difference then that may be your answer. Otherwise,
stop feeling so guilty about fluid intake. Reminds me of beating myself up
everytime I was on a diet before the surgery and didn't drink all my water.
The same advise for weight loss before surgery is applied to us even after
our surgery-eat less, eat healthy, drink 8 glasses of water and exercise.
Seems the only thing that has changed is the mechanics of it all!!!!!!!!!!
