I don't think there is anything wrong unless you are feeling sick also. If
you are truly concerned, contact your surgeons office and let them know.
Some people are able to drink and not have to sip very early while others
are still sipping a couple months out! Carmen

As you will undoubtedly be told, follow your surgeon's instructions
regarding fluid intake. Generally, the importance of sipping is two-fold:
first, it helps to train you to limit quantities and secondly, it provides
a more gradual work-out for your system. As you progress toward denser
liquids and eventually food, you will find that having taught yourself to
take small, measured sips/tastes will be a tremendous benefit and will help
in long-term success. Good luck.

I am 5 months post op down 85lbs (originally 280 and 5'6"). I had the
same concerns. I was able to drink large amounts of water as well, (large
compared to the other people I knew who had to sip). I am extremely healthy
with no side effects. As you can see from my weight loss nothing was wrong.
However, all people are different so if you experience anything else check
with your surgeon. Also, start excersizing as soon as possible. My weight
loss slowed right down in weeks 2-5 until I started on my treadmill. Slow
at first. Goodluck!!! In no time you'll be shopping in the regular sized
stores and feeling great!

I too could drink more than 2oz at a time when I was 7 days post op. My
surgeon told me that the liquid would not stretch or harm my pouch.
Because the liquid goes thru faster. So he told me not to worry. God
bless! 292/227

Steve is absolutely CORRECT! Please carefully read his reply. Most of us
CAN intake more than the mean or standard quantities advised or
recommended. At 7 days, you pouch has not gained full sensation and is
still healing- BE CAREFUL with it, treat it like a baby and follow your
Dr's orders to a T- this is not the time to be pushing the envelope, just
because you can. You may well find that in the near future your pouch will
not allow you to do it, but in the mean time it's up to you.
