Question:
post-op are we restricted concerning spices in our diet?

Sheila,
It depends on which surgery and what your surgeon recommends. I know some
surgeons who recommend laying off anything spicy for quite a while post
gastric bypass. I'm a DS post-op, and strange as it may seem, I seem to
love even spicier foods than I did pre-op! So I totally indulge! They're
wonderful! Be sure to ask your surgeon.
BTW - Hey - I totally know where you live! I used to live in Clay County!
Blessings,
dina

My nutrionist told me at about 5 weeks out that I could try the spices
(including Jalapeno peppers that I was craving) and just see what happened.
NO PROBLEMS! I put hot peppers on EVERYTHING. Hot sauces...I love em. I
am almost 3 months post-op now and I have had no problems with spices! I
would talk it over with your surgeon. Give your body plenty of time to
heal and then its all trial and error.

Always........always........always go by what your doctor says because it
can depend on what type surgery you had. For me (LAP RNY) I also find that
I like my food much spicier than before. I never used much salt or pepper
or hot sauces before but now I love them. I started using hot sauce at
three weeks out when I went to soft food and have had no problems.

Depends on your doctor. My doc and nutritionist told me to "spice
things up a bit' to break the monontamy.

Immediately after surgery its best to take it easy. But longer term my GERD
being gone I love spicey foods! They used to make me ill. Now they are
yummy!
