Question:
What do you think of Dr. Lauter in Kirkland Wa?
My friend is looking into RNY-lap surgery and I told her I would ask all of you. My Doc is too far away for her although I think he was A++. How far does Dr Lauter bypass, how is his before and after care? What does he require pre-op? Appreciate any answers, thanks. — Joan R. (posted on January 5, 2004)

Hi Joan. I am scheduled for laparoscopic RNY tomorrow with Dr. Lauter. I
like him very much. He only does proximals. The reason that I chose him
is because he is experienced in doing the procedure laparoscopically, and
has an excellent aftercare program. I think he sees us at 1, 3, 6, 9,
12,and 18months after surgery. Then he wants to see us once a year
indefinitely. His pre op requirements for me were EKG, extensive
bloodwork, echocardiogram because I took Phen/Fen, gallbladder ultrasound,
consultation with a psychologist, and ongoing visits with a registered
dietician. My insurance company did not require any of that for me to get
approval but I was glad that Dr. Lauter had me do those things. I would
highly recommend him and I am pretty picky. Good luck to your friend.
