Question:
Can you buy premixed protien drinks?
I have been on many diets where I had to drink shakes that you mix with water or milk. They really make me gag! Can you buy protien drinks in a can like slim fast comes in. Also how about the protien bars? It will probally be Sept or October before my surgery date. What can I do in the mean time to shed a few pounds to prepare myself for the surgery? Thanks — Angela H. I am preop with my surgery in August. I, too, have tried some protein
drinks that you mix with water and didn't really like them. However, I
tried pre-mixed Atkins Advantage vanilla and just loved it. It is more
expensive than the powder (4 cans for almost $8.00 at Wal-Mart) but it
really filled me up. My surgeon has in the papers he sent to me today not
to drink Boost or Slim-Fast. I am not sure at this point why. The Atkins
drink, however, is about 20 gm of protein per can and very low carb which
is good. I think Boost and Slim-Fast may be higher in carbs but I am not
sure about that. Hope this helps.

You can buy Ultra Pure Protein pre-mixed drinks at Trader Joe's. I've
tried the vanilla and the strawberry ones. Pretty good.

I like both the Atkins and the Ultra Pure Protein by MetRX. They are
convenient and taste good!

I live on Myoplex ready to drink carb sense shakes. They are a little
expensive...about $9 a four pack. They come in vanilla and chocolate and I
like them both. They have 4 grams of carbs and 25 grams of Protein.
Excellent and filling too.

I drank the Ensure Glucerna (for diabetics) that are in cans, already
mixed. They were pretty good, but I've stuck with the Carnation Instant
Breakfast SF. I just found that I liked them the best, as far as taste.
Good luck!

After trying many protein drinks, I settled on EAS Advant Edge. I buy them
at Walmart. They are premixed in a little box and come in several flavors
for 5.86 for a four pack. They taste good and are really convenient. 0
sugar 2-5 carbs depending on the flavor, 99% fat free and 15g protein per
box. I really like these and they are much cheaper than some of the others
mentioned here.

I tried the Adkin's Advantage shakes before surgery, and I loved them.
After surgery, I can't stand them. I like the Isopure, 40gr of protein in
a 20oz bottle. It's not milk based. It's light and comes in flavors like
Orange Frost,Blue Raspberry, Grape. I drink half in the morning and the
other half at night (yes, it was okayed by my Dr..lol). Be aware that your
tastes DO change with surgery. What you like now, you may not like after.
Good Luck to you. (LapRNY 5/15/03, down 37lbs)

I get the Designer Whey Protein drinks at GNC..They are sugar free, low
carb, and have 40 grams of protein. They come in flavors of
Grape,Orange,Kiwi cherry, and a couple other flavors. They list for about
$2.99 each, but I have a savings card at GNC, and usually get them for
between $1.49 and $1.91...each..

I really like the EAS AdvantEdge pre-mixed drinks - but only the chocolate
ones. I get them from Walmart or on sale from Krogers (last time it was
buy one get one free!) - plus you can buy coupons on eBay for .75 or $1 off
- and then you can stock up! I'm too busy to try to mix up powders and
syrups - so these are PERFEcT for me! Good Luck! WLS GAVE ME BACK MY
LIFE!

Pure Protein now makes a PLUS version that is pretty good too and you can
get a few of those mentioned here at Trader Joe's if there is one near you.

I also like the AdvantEdge in chocolate and strawberry. I am not a big
vanilla anything fan so I can't comment on those. The orange-pineapple were
disgusting. The other one I really liked was CarbSolutions premixed. The
cappuccino flavor was REALLY good and the chocolate was good. Both I got at
WalMart and both I liked mixed with a little skim milk: The AdvantEdge was
a bit thin and the CarbSolutions was a bit thick.<p>I have also tried
the Atkins premixed shake in chocolate. It was OK. The Glucerna tasted good
but made me dump! Be careful with that one.

I dont get how there can be pre-mixed protein drinks. I thought if we
mixed our protein drinks they had to be used within an hour or so..or else
the protein starts breaking down??
